Pino Deodato

1950 | Vibo Valentia, Italy

Pino Deodato’s work is characterized by what he defines as ‘magic realism’, that finds inspiration through memories and nostalgia. Deodato is a humanist and well as an alchemist of stories who poetically and delicately chronicles history and reality, resulting in sculptural paintings laced with metaphor and narrative.

Pino Deodato moved to Milan, Italy in 1969. He attended the Brera Academy of Art, where he was inspired by Milanese art and became the assistant to the artist Giangiacomo Spadari. It was after he became acquainted with the French artistic movement of the 70s and his work subsequently arose out of the social and political events of that time.
