Balqees Fakhro

Bahrain | 1950

Although Balqees Fakhro’s early work was mostly representational, focusing on landscapes and townscapes of Bahrain, her later work, that which she is most recognized for, is inherent of a distinct style. Inspired by her memories and by the rich prehistory of her native land, vast expanses of subdued colours and textures traverse large canvases, recaling timeworn walls of forgotten places.

Fakhro holds a BA in Fine Arts and Art History from Lone Mountain College, San Francisco, USA. She currently lives and works in Bahrain.
