Ebrahim Bu Saad

Muharraq, Bahrain | 1954

Calligrapher and painter, Ebrahim Bu Saad is inspired by his immediate surroundings; the alleys, residents, old quarters and dhows (traditional Bahraini fishing boats) that characterise the old town of Muharraq, Bahrain. Women, birds and musical instruments feature regularly in his oeuvre. Their defined and shapely curves echo the artists proficiency as a calligrapher and his ability to interweave calligraphic Arabic characters into lyrical compositions.
