Writer and artist Abbas Yousif’s work is by and large shaped by his interest inliterature, Arabic poetry and Sufi prose. His resulting paintings, collages, books and prints, are visual manifestations and interpretations of the philosophy and mysticism of writers, spiritual thinkers and academics. Each resulting work explores his chosen verse, emphasizing the depth of its message, through rhythmic compositions and often ambiguous, calligraphic marks.
Born in 1960 in Bahrain, Abbas Yousif obtained his BA in Arabic literature from Qatar University in 1982. He has exhibited consistently for over two decades, both regionally and internationally. Abbas Yousif is art critic with various editorial contributions in magazines and reviews.
